Website building for your business......
Who am I?
I am a local IT Consultant (living in Trimley St Mary, Felixstowe) who, amongst other things, can offer website building and hosting services to small and medium sized businesses. I have many years experience in the Information Technology industry and aim to provide a friendly, jargon fee, value for money and effective service to my clients.
So, why do you need a website for your business?
First of all, research shows that over 80% of consumers search on-line for products and services. You may well already have an entry in a general on-line listing service (such as thomsonlocal.com or yell.com, for example) - however, within these listings you are just one of a number of businesses providing your particular services. Also, the amount of information you can provide is limited through these listing sites. So, why not stand out from the crowd and have your own, purpose built, website?
What about the alternatives?
You could, of course, take advantage of one of the many “free” options, as advertised on television, to build your own website. However, there are a number of reasons why this may not be the best option for you:
Your time is, I'm sure you'll agree, much better spent working within your own business rather than spending a considerable amount of time and effort building a website.
With some of these "free" services unrelated and uncontrolled advertisements can suddenly appear.
These "build-your-own" wbsites promote the use of pre-defined templates. This is fine, except that you may well end up with a site which looks very similar to those of your competitors.
Many of these services will tie you into their own hosting packages; by having your own website, designed just for you, you are able to have it hosted with any provider.
Any problems which you encounter will be down to you to try to fix.
You may already have a social media presence for your business (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) and may be getting some customers through that exposure. Although this marketing method is to some extent effective it does not remove the benefits of a website where potential customers can search for your services and where you can portray the professional nature of your business. It is widely accepted that a website presence is not an alternative to Social Media exposure but each complements the other.
What will you get?
As an example, with my services, you will get the following:
Web design for a 5 or 6 page website - working closely with yourselves to agree design and content.
Your own company domain name.
Dedicated email addresses (i.e. firstname.lastname@example.org). We will also help you set up your existing email client to receive emails to these addresses.
1st year hosting and domain registration.
And the cost for this? £460
On-going costs would be around £100 p.a. (any significant changes to the website would be charged on a time basis and agreed in advance).
If you are considering any alternatives in respect of getting a website built for you then please ensure that any comparable quotes includes all the above.
